During the chinese cultural revolution, the communist government then had clamped down on all religious / group activities including liondance and martial arts. As such, Shigung Jow Tuck Chan (周德成), son of Jow Tin had to keep his skills hidden for years. When the revolution was over, life was tough and it was until 1983, that the villagers from Tang Xia Shafu Village suggested to Shifung Jow Tuck Chan to start a troupe. They then raised funds some funds with the help of the villagers and that was how the Jow Gar HQ started.

They had little funds and converted a grain warehouse into their troupe quarters. At that time, his children were surprise to learn that he was skilled! His youngest son, Shifu Jow Bo Hung (周宝洪) took an interest in the arts and took over the baton. Today, Shifu Jow Bo Hong is carrying on the duties of spreading Jow Gar arts in China. He is still located in Jiangmen, Guangzhou, China, where the Jow brothers originate.

The same building (photos above) was used up till 2011, but fell into poor condition from wear and tear. The roof leaked and they had difficulty raising sufficient funds internally in China. Fortunately Shigung Lim Chin Kim (林镇欣) from Singapore had learned of their plight and initiated a fund raising campaign, which saw a new building constructed behind the old building. The new building was named, the 5 tigers memorial and inaugurated in 2011.
