Jow Tin Hong Kong Liondance 2013

I stumbled upon these clips put up by Sihing Tony from Jow Tin Hong Kong. Interestingly in my venture outside of Singapore, I have noticed that through the years we have lost much, including our liondance style. Most troupes have some form of variation.

I am glad to say  that our liondance seems pretty similar to what I have seen in Hong Kong. One obvious thing is the inclusion of the little symbol that we normally use here for dragon dance. This seems like a Hong Kong practice that have nicely spread over to Singapore. One thing though, Singapore and Malaysia have inherited 2 extra forms in our liondance which is hard to describe in text.

One thing pretty unique to Hong Kong is the “threesome” (talking about stacking 3 people vertically!!). Love it when they do that. The other cool one I have seen is the human 3 layer “cake” formation.

Hopefully we will have some videos to share next time =)
