When the Jow Ga arts first reached Hong Kong, there was once confusion as there is another famous martial arts by the name of Jow Ga Praying Mantis Kungfu. Back then, our Hong Kong troupes decided to rebrand Jow Ga as “Chung Oi Chau Ka”中外周家, meaning Jow Ga outside of China.

As of today there are several descriptions in English. The Americans coined the term Jow Ga which is now used in America and Australia (Due to Shifu Randy Bennett who was from America). Our Hong Kong friends use the Cantonese spelling, Chau Ka or Chow Ga (the former is more prevalent while the latter is often used by the Praying mantis sect) while China, Malaysia and Singapore uses the Hanyu Pinyin (a romanised spelling of Chinese characters) Zhongwai Zhoujia.

As such it is often difficult to have a comprehensive list of info on the internet with one term.
