The Singapore Jow Ga Association was originally founded as Sim San Lok Hup 禅山六合体育会. Founder Shigung Li Kun was a disciple of Jow Ga Hong Kong’s Lam Cheok Woon 林卓垣. (Jow Hip). He had master 5 other disciplines of Kung Fu and merged them into what was called the Lok Hup Kuen which is essentially 6 combination kungfu. Armed with his unique blend of kungfu, he had ventured to Penang Malaysia before eventually settling down in Singapore in 1960s. By then he had set up various troupes in Penang and Singapore. 50 years on, his eldest son Shifu Li Jingyuen helms the troupe with his children. Today the troupe practices a blend of both the Lok Hup kuen and Jow Ga forms. The 50th Anniversary will see the gathering of many overseas Jow Ga troupes in Singapore. The last event of such attendance was back in the 90s. Hopefully it will be another epic Jow Ga event in the making and we hope to document as much as possible.
