The late Chau Teck Seng sifu was the son of Jow Tin Chousi. He had learnt from his father when he was young, but never got to learn everything directly, as Jow Tin chousi had to travel to other places to open new troupes.
When the cultural revolution started in the in 1960s, everything stopped and he could not practice. It was until 1980 that they reopened their troupe in Shafu village, which became Jowga HQ today.
Chau Bo Hong sifu, the 3rd son of Chau Teck Seng runs the troupe today. He revealed that he did not know his dad knew kungfu until 1980, when some sisook from Hong Kong rang them to restart the troupe.
However they had little funds and it was one of the worst times for them post revolution. The clubhouse was in a dilapidated place for almost 30 years until overseas funding came in support of them.
I hope all Jow ga practitioners would have the chance to visit one day to find their roots.
